EPC Poker Leagues - Season III

Congrats Team Alpha: Season III Champions
A most dominating performance by Alpha. They took the lead in Week 2 and never looked back, winning 7 of 9 weeks, netting the 3 highest scores of the season, and finishing over 1,700 points ahead of their closest competitor. Players from team Alpha were all over every individual leaderboard. Alpha players took the top 4 places in the EPC Top Gun, 3 of the top 4 spots in League Scoring, 4 of the top 5 in Final Tables, a tie for 1st in most tournament wins, and Alpha team members won 6 of the 7 League Champions. They also won 5 of the 10 Player of the Week honors, finishing no lower than 3rd in 4 of the other 5. The Team Alpha roster also counts among it's members the Season III League MVP (and runner up), and the Season III Co-Rookie of the Year. Alpha has been strong since we started, and if they stick around a few more seasons playing at this level they will be able to put their name up there with the great poker team dynasties of the past.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention another Alpha's contributions, those of alamoterror. A member and captain of more than one of those past dynasties, he long ago proved anything there was to prove with his playing. Whether he played a little or a lot, alamo was, and still always is, at or near the top when the dust settles. He is one of those around EPC, and there are more than you might think, that will get results no matter where they decide to play, whether it be a friendly home game or the WSOP. His skills have translated equally from individual to team play....there hasn't been a team captained by alamo that didn't win championships on a regular basis. And I gotta add, he has adapted and managed to win with a different style than the past....let's call it a 'slightly more laid back approach'. You that have been around know what I mean. I for one have enjoyed it. Yep, a very dominating performance, one that will be difficult to repeat by any team, Alpha included. Well done.

Individual Awards
League MVPDirty Rook has been dominating the EPC tables since its inception, and yet somehow managed to pick it up a notch for Season III. When it was all said and done he had left little doubt who our MVP was... League Scoring Title, EPC Top Gun, Most Tournament Wins, Most Final Tables, and a very impressive League Champs record, placing top 10 in 6 of the 7 Leagues. Two of those were championships, the Monday Night PL and Wednesday PL, then 3rd in the Monday PL, 5th in the Thursday Night PL, 7th in the Tuesday Night PL, and 8th in the Saturday PL. Rook also had the highest scoring week of any player in Season III, scoring an amazing 457 pts for Week 10. That's 182 pts better than the next best score for the season....wow. It can be difficult to truly appreciate or put into context the results Dirty Rook consistently delivers....what he does on a weekly basis would rate as a great season for a lot of us. Congrats Dirty Rook on yet another fine campaign.

Runner up, in every sense of the word, was LBM&T. "Lil Buddy" came in 2nd to Rook in every category except Most Tournament Wins. LB was also the player with the 2nd best scoring week of the season, netting 275 pts for Week 1. He won Player of the Week honors 2 times in Season III, one of only 3 players in the history of EPC to accomplish that feat. Of course Rook is one of the other players, getting the double in Season I and then bettering that with a Player of the Week hat trick (3 times) in Season II. LB had an impressive League Champs record as well, winning the Monday PL and the Tuesday Night PL, and taking 5th in the Monday Night PL. While Rooks overall stats made him the obvious MVP winner, LB was right there with him, and the disparity between 2nd and 3rd was such that these two players stood alone above the many talented players that competed in Season III. Oh, there was one place LB wasn't runner up...both are members of team champion Alpha, which LB is more than content with. Well done Dirty Rook and LBM&T.

Rookie of the Yeartommydoo and easydeuce747 are co-winners of the first EPC Rookie of the Year award, which identifies the best new player(s) to join in on the fun of Team Play. The stats on these two were incredibly close. deuce had the edge in League Scoring, coming in 4th with 1,213 pts while tommy was 5th, just 43 pts back at 1,169. tommy was 4th in Final Tables with 13, deuce was just one back with 12. deuce had the edge in tournament wins with 2 to tommy's 1, and they both had 3 high finishes in League Champs, with tommy getting a 1st, 3rd, 4th, and deuce getting a 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, giving tommy a slight edge there with having the Thursday Night PL Championship. The only big discrepancy was in the EPC Top Gun, where tommy finished 4th w/ a 5.6 avg and deuce was way back in 53rd with a 20.9 avg. But deuce was a waiver pickup, not playing any tournaments in week 1, which gave him a score of 132 for that week, and only 1 trny in week 2. If we take away the first two weeks for deuce his avg drops to a jaw dropping 3.5, which is just .2 pts off Dirty Rooks league low. If I had to pick one player I could, but I don't have to, so hats off to both of these fine new additions to EPC Poker Leagues, well done! Honorable mentions go out to EPC newbs aamin10, Nannook, apd1122 and nicedreams4. Sorry if I missed anyone...it's been a bit hectic on this side of the monitor lately, so it's entirely possible.

EPC Top GunDirty Rook grabbed a piece of the lead in the EPC Top gun in week 2 and never looked back in cruising to victory, his first in this category after taking 2nd in Season I and 8th in Season II. Rook had an avg low score of 3.3, over a full point lower than his closest competitor. Great job. LBM&T of course was 2nd with a 4.6, SPOILER64, who won the Top Gun for Season II followed that up nicely with a 3rd this season, finishing with an avg of 5.3 and tommydoo gave team Alpha a clean sweep of the top 4 spots, finishing 4th with a 5.6. Jr_RLC, who's impressive playing history goes deep into the old ESPN Poker Club days, found his way to EPC—and onto new team the Chip Chargers—and finished up strong with a 6.6 avg to take 5th place. By the way, Jr_RLC is the only other player besides Rook and LB to win Player of the Week twice in one season. Good one RLC. This was our first season that no player was able to get a final table every week, with Rook, LB and SPOILER coming the closest, each missing just one week. OZZY-STL, XBad_Company, proftax42, ArnoldZifell and alamoterror round out the top 10. This is a tough event as the pressure to final table builds each week, great job everyone.

League Scoring TitleDirty Rook has dominated the League Scoring Standings since we began, taking 1st in Season I, 2nd in Season II, and winning the title again in Season III with 1,786 pts. The consistency level here is amazing. If we break it down to a weekly avg, that's 179 pts per week. I know I don't just speak for myself when I say that would be a stand out week for me. To have it for an average is quite impressive. Well done, again, Rook. LBM&T came in 121 pts off the pace in 2nd, finishing up with 1,665 pts, and SPOILER64 gave Alpha the 1-2-3 sweep coming in 3rd with 1,219 pts. Rookie leaders easydeuce747, with 1,213 pts, and tommydoo, with 1,169 pts, took 4th and 5th respectively. Generation X cappy XBad_Company was 6th with 1,134 pts. Even though he will tell you he has been in a slump, and he kinda has actually, XBad is another example of a high level of consistency. 6th place w/ 1,134 aint chopped liver but it's the worse he's done up to this point. Not bad for an "off season". Jr_RLC, OZZY-STL, 75 diamonds and proftax42 complete the top 10. Great work everyone.

Most Tournament Wins
Dirty Rook and 75 diamonds had the most league tournament wins this season, with 4 a piece. ESPN vets Jr_RLC and Mithrall tied at 3 wins a piece, and we had just 5 other players with multiple wins as aamin10, easydeuce747, KISHKUTENA, SPOILER64 and XBad_Company each had 2 tournament wins. These league tournaments get tougher and tougher to close out as the fields get bigger and the level of competition increases. Well done everyone.

Most Final Tables
Leading the way in the Final Table Standings was Wee Willie Winkin, who.... oops, wait a minute. Nope. Maybe next time. Dirty Rook set the pace here as well, landing 18 final tables during Season III, almost 2 per week. Again I just shake my head. Two in one week is no easy task and insane to be done on a weekly basis...unless your name is Dirty Rook I reckon. He has finished 1st, 1st and 2nd the last 3 seasons in this category. LBM&T was next with 17 final tables, the "slumping" XBad_Company had 14, and rounding out the top 5 were Jr_RLC, SPOILER64 and tommydoo with 13 ft's. Excellent work everyone.

League Champions We had some crazy and intense finishes for some of our League Champions, with 3 or 4 of them being decided on the last final table of the last tournament. I was able to be there to see the action in most cases and it was fun to watch. Congrats to LBM&T who set a new standard with 8 cashes in one Poker League.

---------------------------------------------Monday PL Champion - LBM&T, 5 cashes
---------------------------------------------Monday Night PL Champion - Dirty Rook, 5 cashes
---------------------------------------------Tuesday Night PL Champion - LBM&T, 8 cashes
---------------------------------------------Wednesday PL Champion - Dirty Rook, 5 cashes
---------------------------------------------Thursday Night PL Champion - tommydoo, 6 cashes
---------------------------------------------Friday Night PL Champion - SPOILER64, 7 cashes
---------------------------------------------Saturday PL Champion - Mithrall, 3 cashes

Thanks everyone for yet another fun, competitive season of team poker. Each season we get closer and closer to our stated goal, which is to have League Tournaments on par with what we used to have at the old ESPN Poker Club. I think we are almost there. Special thanks to TurtleGirl1, who helps out quite a bit behind the scenes. Without her none of this would be possible by a long shot. And thanks also to all the captains, who have proven true something I long believed, which is if the "leaders" of this place carry themselves in a certain manner so will many others, making for a more enjoyable experience for all.

Thanks for playing....it's fun
Sarcastic smile

EPC Poker Leagues Week 10 - Congrats Alpha: Season II Team Champions

"Wow" doesn't even begin to describe the finish to this season. After 10 weeks and 69 league tournaments it came down to the final table of the last tourney, a mere 29 points separating Alpha and Generation X. Both teams started the tournament with 9 players and when it got to the final table Alpha had two players left, Gen X 1. When BADazzBEAR co-captain olemoose went to the rail 9th, Alpha had finally clinched the title. Congratulations Alpha on a tough, well deserved victory. Congrats also to defending champs Generation X and team captain XBad_Company, who despite a slow start -- they were in 3rd place after week 5 but battled back to take the lead in week 8 -- almost got the repeat. The BADazzBEARS finished in 3rd place and are strong contenders heading into Season III. The Cheeky Monkeys got off to an even slower start than the X'ers but kept fighting and cheering each other on and finished up a solid 4th in the 7 team league, edging Kool Breeze by 38 pts. I would like to thank all the teams and players for another fun and competitive series and look forward to the same for Season III.

Season II Champion Alpha:
Captain - alamoterror, CoCaptain - Parker2704
bama allan, Dirty Rook, fnich72, fuddly004, I_Deliver78, KyWoman700, LBM&T

Season II Final Individual Titles

League Scoring Champion
WBWootan prevailed in a tough battle for the scoring title, with the lead changing hands each of the last 3 weeks. He finished up Season II with a total of 1,509 points scored. Great job and congrats. Last seasons scoring champion, the incredibly consistent Dirty Rook, had another strong campaign coming in 2nd this time around with 1,474 pts, just 35 pts back. SPOILER64 (1,422 pts), OZZY-STL (1.266 pts) and XBadCompany (1,227 pts) round out the top 5.

EPC Top Gun
SPOILER64 took the lead in week 2 and never gave it back, winning the Season II EPC Top Gun with an avg low of 4.1. This is as tough a title as there is to win as the pressure builds each week to get a low score. Great job. Scoring champ WBWootan came in 2nd with a 4.8, followed by trackertarga at 4.9, X mr MC X at 5.5 with ArnoldZifell, OZZY-STL and Big Alzzzz all tied for 5th at 5.6.

Most Wins
WBWootan won an amazing 6 tournaments this season. That's a winning percentage of 11%, or about 1 out of every 10 tournaments played. Outstanding. Out of the hundreds that played, only 12 players had more than one win, which further shows what an incredible performance this was. trackertarga was next up with 4 wins, followed by Dirty Rook and leev1027 with 3 wins each, and 8 players had 2 wins each; ArnoldZifell, babby1234, DCowell12, JellyBaby100, mkrofdrms, StPoker44, wisecall and X mr MC X.

Most Final Tables
SPOILER64 finished up his strong campaign with 17 final tables, just edging Dirty Rook, OZZY-STL and XBad_Company, who had 16 each. Big Alzzzz and WBWootan finished tied for 5th with 15.

EPC League Champions

Monday Poker League - WBWootan (5 cashes)
